Flames, arcane, and the moon have bowed down to your prowess. But your greatest challenge has yet to come. Can you handle the rotting trecheary of the undead? The wicked might of the shadows? The tormenting screams of agony? More importantly, the arrows of Lady Sylvanas?
In a world where the Cataclysm of Deathwing has beckoned, the undead leader wanders around Dragonblight gathering her forces of zombies to survive, and perhaps re-order the world to her own liking. It's your duty as the saviors of the past, present, and future to finally lay peace on the bow-wielding Banshee Queen so you can still save a present that's facing Deathwing's wrath.
Overall, the Sylvanas fight comprises of your basic tank and spank and GTFO of fire mechanics. It also involves some adds killing but we'll get to that in a bit. For now, let's talk about her abilities (courtesy of the people of Wowpedia.org)
The Calling of the Highborne: Sylvanas ascends towards the sky, pulling enemies towards her. Her calling then summons eight Risen Ghouls in a circle around Sylvanas. A shadowy link forms between each ghoul, and the area behind each ghoul fills with shadows. The ghouls then march mindlessly towards Sylvanas. When a Risen Ghoul reaches Sylvanas, it performs the Sacrifice spell. Crossing any of the links between the Rise Ghouls or standing within the shadows behind the ghouls inflicts Wracking Pain every second on the player. Destroying a Risen Ghoul will severe the link to other nearby ghouls, and remove the area of shadows behind it.
Wracking Pain: Crossing any of the links between the Rise Ghouls or standing within the shadows behind the ghouls inflicts Wracking Pain on the player every second. Wracking pain inflicts 55000 Shadow damage.
Risen Ghoul: When a Risen Ghoul reaches Sylvanas, it performs the Sacrifice spell. Destroying a Risen Ghoul will severe the link to other nearby ghouls, and remove the area of shadows behind it.
Sacrifice: Sacrifice inflicts 300000 Shadow damage to players within 11 yards of Sylvanas.
Shriek of the Highborne — Sylvanas shrieks with anguish, inflicting 75000 Shadow damage on a random player and decreasing their movement speed by 50% for 30 sec.
Black Arrow: Sylvanas fires an explosive black arrow at a random player, dealing 60000 Shadow damage players within 10 yards of the target.
Unholy Shot: Sylvanas targets a barrage of missiles at a random player, striking up to 3 players within 10 yards of the target. Each missile inflicts 30000 Shadow damage and an additional 25000 Shadow damage every 2 sec. for 10 sec.
Blighted Arrows: Sylvanas blights the ground in a 3 yard radius circle beneath a random player and leaps towards the sky. The blight deals 35000 damage every 1 sec. and reduces the movement speed by 50% of any player standing within it. At the peak of her jump, she launches a volley of deadly arrows at the blighted ground. The arrow inflicts 50000 Shadow damage and knock back any player still standing within the blight.
Sylvanas has two rotating phases. The first phase is simply a tank and spank where you avoid the path of her Blighted Arrows. Staying within the projectile left by the ability lying on the floor (it looks like some purple goo thingy) will cause recurring damage. You should avoid this at all costs because your healer might not be able to heal through for everybody.
The second phase involves Risen Ghouls. Now, the typical reaction of DPS is to try to kill all the adds as quick as possible. Well let me tell you right now that you're not gonna be able to kill them all before Sylvanas kicks your sorry arse. What the party should do is to focus fire on ONLY ONE Risen Ghoul. Doing so will remove the purple cloud behind the killed Ghoul, giving the party a way out before all Ghouls close in to Sylvanas so she can use Sacrifice.
To make the second phase easier, before starting the battle ask the leader to set up a world mark around 10 yards away from Sylvanas' starting point. This will be your marker as to which Ghoul should the party focus fire. The nearest Ghoul to spawn on the mark should be killed ASAP.
After this phase, Sylvanas goes back to phase one. Overall, it's an easy fight as long as you know what you're doing and which Ghoul should you focus fire. Just do your standard rotation and use Aspect of the Hawk for better DPS results.
The best part about the Sylvanas fight is the loot! She drops an awesome bow and an agility necklace. So pray that she drops this. Good luck!
